YOUNG Lexi-Jean Thwaits has received a funding boost to help her cope with cystic fibrosis.

A total of 11 cyclists from Biddulph Moor rode from Blackpool to Manchester in order to raise money for various causes.

Organised by Roy Kendrick, managing director of Direct Parts Limited in Cheddleton, the cycle ride raised more than £2,000 which was split between several charities including Douglas Macmillan, Christies, The Food Bank and young Lexi-Jean.

The five-year-old, of Biddulph Moor, has the most severe form of the genetic disorder, meaning she has to take a cocktail of medication and undergo daily physiotherapy.
